Lady Sayuri shared until now her poems only with her countless friends. We all enjoyed them, and sometimes we even wept. She has the wonderful talent to evoke our emotions and when she just has shared one of her poems we see, it deals just at this time with our problems, our joys, our losses, our despair.

The preface she wrote for the book express it far better than any of my own words can do.

Many of her poems describe our own moods and show even ways to deal with them, especial when we feel despaired or hopeless. Lady Sayuri shows us, there is ever a way out, stars and the moon brightens the darkness of the sky as well as the darkness of our soul. We just have to look for them in the same hope she encourages us to maintain even in the gloomiest hours of our life.

Some examples of these poems are:

I mention just the poems, which helped me most. I admire her for sharing with us her emotions of lost hope and love and her fears. That is not easy, to open ones soul, let read strangers about deep experiences we all try to hide even from the most nearest and loved partners and friends.

But she shares more with us, prayers we can use too, even if we substitute the name of her Goddess with the name of the one, we worship. And there is so much more in these poems, the joy of living, the beauty and comfort of nature, the glimpses of faeries and dragons, other worlds beings, who sometimes bless us with a short appearance and of course the animals, who share our life, the tamed and the wild ones, who would never agree to captivity of any kind. But when we need them most, they grace us with some minutes of sharing, of exposing their kind of life with us. They have different minds and aims, but are nevertheless an essential part of the world and our life’s.

And she wrote some exceptional love poems, one of them impressed me most:

If you had my Love         Page 57.

I love poems since my childhood and until I read her book, one verse from a big opus written by Lord Tennyson was my favourite love poem. But this one of her poems I now put at the same page, because it expresses similar emotions in different words of course. And if you ask me now, which of these 2 poems touches my heart deeper, I am not able to decide.

Lady Sayuri is a great poetess, her poems cover all aspects of our lifes, and she has a gift that is not lesser than that of the famous poets from the past. But these past famous poets were mostly men. As a woman she touches our souls far deeper as a man ever could or can. Her book takes up an outstanding place in my big collection of poems, and even as I have read her poems several times already, I will read them several times more in the future.

Poems are different from any other kind of books. If they are good, they never get boring, as *normal* books do, when one reads them the second or third time. Poems can be read countless times, and depending on our mood we can discover with every re-reading something new, as these poems cover all aspects of our life. I always wait eagerly for her sharing a new one with her friends, so I have an additional collection of those, which are not in this book; because they were written after it was published.

I think we have a real great poetess among us, who use words as they should be used; to enjoy, comfort, help and let see us the beauty in our lifes, experiences and the world. A big contrast to the negative trash, that seems to be today the favourites of our big publishing houses. Proof of that is: The book is self-published and I am sure, even the great poets of the past, whose works enjoy us since centuries like Tennyson, Rilke, Shakespeare, Dante, to name only few, would today find no professional publisher, if not their fame originated from the past.

But the book contains not only poems, half of it is dedicated to Spells, Invocations, Sabbats and Esbats and of course Chants. First I found out, they are nearly all poems too. If we believe in using spells, successful or not, they are nevertheless worth reading and enjoying the poetry of them. And here it is very difficult to say, which are my favourites, because I like them all. The first one

Love Wishes                   Page 65

express all the longings of our heart. Living without love is just existing. Any one needs love and this Spell that I see as a beautiful poem too, shows us, how deep the longing for love is rooted in our souls and our hearts.

One of the exceptions is the

Money Chant                  Page 162

And I intend to include that into my own ritual and use it next time.

Divine Message              Page 88

is more than a spell. It is one of the prayers I mentioned before; addressed to all deities we or our ancestors have known.

Fulfilling Dreams Spell  Page 121 Falls into the same range, a poem that compels us to fulfil our deepest desires and dreams.

Included too are some very practical Spells with detailed descriptions. They are worth trying them out, if one believe in witchcraft of not. Using a spell can bring some very not expected results, even for a beginner and Lady Sayuri’s spells are based on very ancient witchcraft, from a time when people had less technique and depended not so much on ratio, but on believing in the ancient powers of the universe. These practical spells you can find between the pages 116 and 127. Spells and Gris-Gris Bags for each day of the week, another love spell and much more, that too can be included or added to our own rituals. Needless to say, that these pages have a beautiful language too.

Next part is the Invocations. Once more poems and prayers, which are a joy to read and so surely will be heard by the deities they call.

Sabbats and Esbats cover our main celebrations, not depending on how they are named in different religions. Besides making more beautiful any celebration, we can use these poems too, when we write our Good Wishes to family and friends with letters, cards and E-mails.

The last pages of the book, Chants and Blessings, I just compare with the first part, the poems. Different themes once more, but for some of them I wished, that one of the musicians among us would compose a melody to them. And as we know of the use of Tarot cards too, why not take the system CASE developed and Rachel POLLACK explained in one page of her book: *The Complete Illustrated Guide to Tarot*. A tune is given to each of the Major cards, omitting only 2 of the cards. I think a combination of these Tarot-tunes with Lady Sayuri’s Chants would give strange but suiting melodies for them.

It is time to finish the review. The book will take a space of honour in my collection of poetic works and I already gave it a protective cover, what I ever do for any of my paperbacks I use und read frequently.

This is a book worth buying. It can accompany us in our life’s most joyful and darkest hours. It offers help in melancholy, depression and even despair.

And besides, we could show and maybe even convince the publishing houses, that we not always share their sometimes bad tastes in literature. Because literature in the best sense of this word is presented to us between the blue covers of this book.
