Never mistake knowledge for wisdom. One helps you make a living; the other helps you make a life.
Carey
I am born under the sign of Cancer ( 18th of ) in the Year of the Dragon.
When I was in my teens, I was in awe of my older sister who can tell fortunes with the regular playing cards. By today's standards, that was "cool". I remember Friday nights when friends gather at the dining room for a fortune telling session. I watched my sister carefully and tried to emulate her readings in secrecy! That was in the '50's. My clients were my younger sisters and naïve school chums.
I grew up in a family where premonitions/ precognitions was the norm. When one of us was out late, my parents used to say: " If we are not worried, there is nothing to worry about". Today, my sisters and I hear ourselves say the same words when our children are out!
Friends we brought home with us were approved or disapproved with one gaze from my mother! When my parents were away, we felt safe, there would be petty robberies around the neighborhood, but no one came near our place. Yes, the rare time, we would hear someone tinkling the ivory keys. we would run off to bed for safety.
My oldest sister was a concert pianist, she died of childbirth.
Those days, there was no awareness of these phenomena, it was just "one of those things". We were aware of vibrations that came our way, positive or negative, sometimes the negative ones were pretty powerful. I've witnessed"exorcism", when the spirit of our grandmother will not leave my sister alone. Our doctor suggested psychiatric treatment, our parish priest was aghast, this is against catholic dogma. Yes, we were educated under Franciscan nuns and Dominican priests.
I was taught to be careful around unknown territories, say a friendly greeting when I set foot on strange grounds. We have been made aware of the spirits around nature, trees, rivers, mountains, show them respect so they will also respect our presence .Of course, I forgot all these when I came to Canada.
Before I came to Canada, I kept seeing vision of a lake, surrounded with trees, mostly pine, I can almost feel the soothing water caress my feet.I could see the shoreline across, like I can swim across. ( Of course I do not swim) Behind the lake was a hill, again, nestled among pine trees. I never dreamt of going anywhere, let alone Canada, halfway across the globe, where half the year people endure freezing climes.
I went with a sister to see a friend who was a gifted psychic ( may she rest in peace). Instead of reading for my sister, she led me to her nook, and did her thing. I laughed when she said I was going to receive an official letter from across the seas, a job offer I can not refuse, and this was within 6 months. Yes, I thought to myself, in your dreams. That was 31 years ago.
And thus began my journey into the unknown! The first time my husband ( we were just friends, then) invited me to this place he called "camp", I described the vision I had of the place, he was amazed! He had his relationship, that was fine. His weekends with his "friend" at this lake were restless,he swears he could feel my presence all day and night. That was that!
I've been interested in Tarot since the '70's. it was just for fun and to be able to demonstrate something different at socials. But in the early '90's , I started to get serious about it. I read for family and close friends, I have done extensive surfing on most of the tarot sites, some are very helpful indeed. I own several decks, the Rider-Waite is still my favorite, next is the Arthurian deck, the Golden Dawn, Medicine Woman, Aquarian deck, and Egyptian deck- this one I can not figure out, and Cagliostro.
I joined the Free Tarot Network last year, it is a rewarding experience for me. It has helped me along my path to spiritual growth and development. I am encouraged by the feedback I get, it is a good feeling to be able to reach out to someone through the gift of Tarot. And it gets better all the time.
Tarot opens up a whole new world- it is closely related to numerology, astrology, Kabbalah , etc.Yes, I believe that when the time has come, the right door will open.
I love music, I turn on pop-music when I go around my mundane chores,.For relaxation, I listen to baroque music, when I feel inspired, I love the music of the great masters. Chopin is my favorite composer.
As I get more "mature", I am trying hard to hone my piano playing skills, my arthritic fingers give me a valid excuse for those bum notes I hit, oh no, not my lack of skill!
I read anything and everything there is to read, especially when I am stuck in a waiting room.
I love summer, savor the beauty of nature and enjoy the outdoors.
I started keeping journals for the past two years. I am working hard on being able to "connect" with my higher self through my journal entry.
